Keep an apple candle lit
In your window, shining bright.
The scent of October mornings,
To ward you from the night.
Keep a ring of garlic braided
All around the yard.
So that evil cannot enter
Nor cross this pungent guard.
Keep fresh sunflower seeds
To sprinkle in the wood.
The birds will lead you homeward,
Back to what is good.
Keep a sprig of wormwood
In your pocket, tucked away.
To protect against all evils
That stalk you in the day.
Keep a silver ingot
In a lockbox, tight at home.
So your family is protected
Even as you roam.
