My journey to Mantravan began one fateful day, when I sought passage on an unmarked vessel bound for riches and treasure. A pirate captain with a fiery attitude and even fierier hair led the voyage.
We skipped the rocky outcrops surrounding Pentacle Rock, journeyed along the coast until we ran aground on great towers of stone dredged from the deep. The passage here is definitely impassable, by boat, or carriage.
Still, the journey was sufficiently well worth it.
Night was falling, and we had come to journey's end.
I asked the crew, "What can you see on the horizon?"
A voice shot back from the crow's nest, "A light on the water!"
"No, all is turning to silver glass!"
Before I could respond, the voice commanded, "Across the sea, a pale moon rises!"
As we anchored for the evening off the coast of a great jungled biome, multiple sailors and henchmen aboard the vessel reported hearings of soft, still, and peaceful chants. Hymns echoing off the rocks. Gentle harps, and what sounded like an angelic choir lulled us all to sleep.
'May it be?' I thought to myself. 'Mantravan is real.'
Safe in the arms of the choir, only sleeping, we dreamed of the ones who came before.
But it was no siren-song. We awoke refreshed, replenished. One sailor even claims her eyesight had improved.
We unmoored and returned home. I still dream about the sounds of the singing monks to this day. I remember the white gulls calling, and ask myself, why were they so quiet and so loud, that I could hear the chants and songs clear as day midst noise and chaos?
It was as if a dream out of memory and time. I won't say we have come now to the end.
