Paragraph 196
The Usurper never expected anyone to move back, assuming thieves would be so focused on the treasure they would only move forward.
With the first trap out of the way, the path across the room is easily picked out from what stones do not have scorch marks. The treasure turns out to be nothing more than poorly gilded tin coins, utterly worthless. Hidden behind the piles of false treasure, are two doors.
To open the northeast door, turn to paragraph 135.
To open the northwest door, turn to paragraph 143.
Paragraph 197
The ornate gate is truly a work of art, and inserting the key within the lock lets out a wretched groan the likes of which would raise the dead. Which is exactly what it does. Wraiths pour out of the gate in fury at being awoken from their endless slumber. Or perhaps they were just angry at being locked inside and now can pass beyond the gate. Either way, the Warrior King is taken by surprise from the undead onslaught.
The Warrior King dies unfulfilled.
Paragraph 198
With the room dark, it is easy to spot the outline of a hidden door embedded in the right wall. Opening the door leads to a simple room, with a rough work desk covered in sketches and notes. This is what the Warrior King has been seeking. The plans he was certain the Sage King and the Usurper were working on together, behind his back.
By taking these he can sow confusion between them. Over time, if he plays his cards right, they will fall into distrust of each other. And then, he shall offer his help to each to bring the other down. So that only he, the Warrior King remains.
The Warrior King returns home, triumphant, certain he will rule forever, alone.
